As some of you may have read on my "About me" page, I used to sing with my local Glee Club UK choir in Bracknell. I had a great time learning a huge range of different songs as well as having a good giggle with my fellow singers. Just before we moved to Northamptonshire, it was announced that Glee Club would be recording a Christmas album at Abbey Road Studios and I didn't feel it was something that I could miss. So despite living several counties apart, I spent many hours learning the songs and several hours more on the motorway going back down to Berkshire to attend some group rehearsals.
On Sunday 7th February 2016, the day arrived. I was incredibly nervous but at the same time honoured that I had the opportunity to record an album at such a prestigious recording studio. I was hoping that my nerves would settle down once we got going, but unfortunately that didn't seem to be the case! I don't think it was helped by the fact we had to remain completely still after we'd finished our take – I was even scared to breathe at times. But what an experience it was!
It may have been February, but we were in fine voice recording seven Christmas songs, including one of my all-time favourites: "Silent Night". Richard, our choir director, has a lot of work ahead of him to combine all the different tracks and microphones to balance it all beautifully, but I'm sure the result will be well worth the wait. Watch this space to find out how you can get hold of our album that will be released for charity. In the meantime, if anyone ever gets the opportunity to record here I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Hearing our recording featuring over 200 voices moved me to tears.
