The ELIA Together conference in Barcelona provided the perfect opportunity to get together as a group of Standing Outers to get to know one another in person. Standing Out® is a fantastic group on Facebook that unites translators from all walks of life but we don't often get to meet outside of cyberspace. On the eve of the conference, 34 of us met at a restaurant that was ably picked by two fellow translators, and we seemed to gorge for hours on wonderful tapas. I particularly enjoyed the tortilla de patata, pimientos de padrón and the plate of deserts that arrived once I thought I was already full. As the saying goes, there's always room for pud!
